Nic Marcon
Director / Principle
Psychologist
Nic is the
Director and Principle Psychologist of Emotional Balance and has a strong desire to help others
achieve their goals and dreams. He believes that anyone can change their life with the right
guidance and support. Over the years Nic has a wide range of experience in helping people with
addictions ranging from alcohol to drugs to gambling. He is also passionate about assisting
people with abuse and trauma as well as those who self-harm and have suicide ideation. In
addition to this he has also developed a strong interest in helping people overcome their
anxiety, depression and PTSD symptoms. Nic is also responsible for the development of our range
of group programs and e-courses that have assisted many clients in making lasting changes in
their lives.
Throughout Nic’s Career he has worked in a number of positions
since becoming a Psychologist. While studying at University, he worked at a Youth
Detoxification Centre, for adolescents with drug and alcohol problems. During his post-graduate
studies, he worked in a Maximum Security Prison where he was the coordinator for the Drug and
Alcohol field. Eventually, he began working at a Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre where
he remained until he founded the Marcon Emotional Balance Centres.
Kym
Walford Psychologist
Kym is a
registered psychologist who has a strong client focus and believes in empowering clients to
direct their own recovery. She specialises in the assessment and treatment of a range of
psychological problems. She has a background in adult mental health and forensic psychology
including working with individuals with complex mental health needs.
Her passion is in assisting people to beat their anxiety,
depression and other emotional disturbances. She also has a considerable experience in working
with clients who suffer from schizophrenia, hallucinations, paranoia and other very serious
illnesses and to assist them to regain control over their life.
BronwynMcLellan Psychologist
Bronwyn is a
registered psychologist who has a strong client focus and believes in helping children,
adolescents and adults to work through issues to collaboratively reach their chosen goals. Her
interests range into a variety of different areas such as; working with women with pregnancy
and pregnancy related issues, including support for pregnancy loss, ante-natal planning,
infertility and post natal depression, as well as women’s issues in general.
Bronwyn has specialised in disabilities and hearing loss area and
provided different coping and adjustment strategies that best enhanced the healing process of
the whole person.span>
Dr. Natalie Shockley Clinical Psychologist
Natalie is a
fully-registered psychologist and is recognised with Medicare as a Clinical Psychologist.
She completed her undergraduate degree – Bachelor of Science, with First Class Honours,
followed by her clinical postgraduate degree in psychology, at the University of Queensland.
She has over 10 years experience working with adults with a range of mental health diagnoses,
including over 4 years in a private psychology practice, as well as having worked in forensic
and psychiatric institutions, and alcohol/other drug treatment services.
Natalie’s special interest areas include trauma and dissociative
disorders, the range of anxiety disorders [including PTSD, OCD, through to simple phobias] and
couples work. She is happy to accept referrals for adult clients presenting with diagnoses
within these categories, including those with a history/current comorbid diagnoses of substance
use disorders and/or depression.
Elizabeth Puhakka -
Psychologist
Elizabeth is a registered psychologist and an associate
member of the Australian Psychological Society. Elizabeth has experience working with people
throughout the lifespan (children, adolescents, adults and older adults) and takes a
holistic approach to understanding people’s distress. Elizabeth is especially passionate
about working with families and couples therapy, but also has interest in chronic health
problems, such as diabetes, alcohol dependence and chronic pain, and lifestyle factors that
impact on physical and psychological well being.
Elizabeth intervention approaches including cognitive
behaviour therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy,
and emotion-focused therapy.
Raylene Chen -
Psychologist
Raylene is a registered psychologist and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
She holds a Master of Clinical Psychology (Griffith University, Queensland) and an Advanced Diploma
in Relationship Counselling (Relationships Australia Queensland). She has extensive experience in relationship
counselling. Raylene has helped individuals and couples work through a range of difficulties including
relationship conflict, separation and divorce, co-parenting, affairs and domestic violence. She is also
experienced working in the areas of anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem, anger management,
stress management and gambling addictions.
Raylene is dedicated to providing a supportive and non-judgemental environment
that promotes emotional wellbeing. Her therapeutic approaches include acceptance and commitment therapy,
cognitive-behavioural therapy, emotion-focused therapy, family therapy and motivational interviewing - tailoring
interventions to your needs.
Reno Baragwanath -
Musculoskeletal Therapist
Reno has a University Degree in musculoskeletal therapy, and because of
his training he is well able to assist people who have physical pain whether from an
accident or due to any other issues. He focuses his attention on reducing and stopping
pain from controlling a persons life. He is trained to provide remedial massage as well
as a well-earned relaxation massage. Reno’s passion and goals is to help people regain
their mobility, reduce and stop ongoing pain and to assist people to maintain their
health. Most importantly, he is passionate to assist people in increasing their quality
of life.
Jill Tolhurst -
Yoga Teacher & Massage Therapistbr>
Jill is a qualified Yoga teacher and Massage Therapist with over
20 years experience. She has
focused her training in Kundalini Yoga, which is the yoga of awareness. Her motivation
and passion to help people from all walks of life gain control over their life has been a
vital part of Jill’s life, and although she has been doing this for a very long time,
none of her passion has disappeared.
Her warm and welcoming manner will make you feel at home very
quickly and she will assist all people new to Yoga or Massage Therapist so that they can get

Racheal Marcon
Practice Manager
Racheal is the Practice Manager at Emotional Balance and is here
to assist you with any inquiries you may have. So from the moment you contact us, whether you
need information about how to obtain Medicare Assistance or just a general inquire on how the
counselling process works she is always willing to help in her warm and friendly
way.
Racheal has over 12 years experience in the childcare industry
where she managed a number of different Centres. In her last role she established a new Centre,
and her exceptional management skills helped to establish that Centre as one of the top centres
in the area.
Racheal is also currently undertaking a University degree in
Psychology and aims to specialise in Child and Family Psychology. Her passion is to help make a
difference in children's lives through teach children and families how to become emotionally
intelligent, utilising a program developed by Nic, which has been especially tailored to suit
the individual needs of all children and their families.
